What is a doula?
A birth doula is a person trained and experienced in childbirth who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after childbirth. The role of a doula is to individualize care based on your circumstances and preferences. A doula does not replace the father or birth partner, but instead enhances their ability to support the laboring mother. This helps to take the pressure off the partner and allows them to enjoy the experience.
